WISPR FLOW PRICING

Wispr Flow Pricing (2026): Plans, Free-Tier Math, No Surprises

Wispr Flow free gives 2,000 dictated words a week — about 15 minutes of talking, counted per account. Pro is $15/user/mo month-to-month or $12/user/mo billed annually ($144 up front). Enterprise is quote-only, and there is no lifetime or one-time option. Below: every plan decoded, words-per-dollar math at real volumes, and the traps the pricing page buries in footnotes.

The three plans at a glance

Flow Basic — Free

2,000 words/week on Mac & Windows, 1,000 words/week on iPhone, unlimited on Android during a limited promotional period. 100+ languages, custom dictionary & snippets, Privacy Mode, 14-day Pro trial. The cap is volume-only — but it is a hard stop.

Flow Pro — $15 ($12 annual)

Unlimited dictated words, all platforms (Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android), Command Mode voice edits, team features from the first seat with no minimum, centralized billing, admin usage dashboards. $144/user/year charged up front on annual.

Flow Enterprise — Quote-only

Volume terms, SSO/SAML, security controls, and compliance workflows. No published figure anywhere on Wispr's pricing page — every "Enterprise $X" number you see elsewhere is a guess.

Verified September 2026 against wisprflow.ai/pricing and independent 2026 pricing audits (speakoflow, heymumble, eesel.ai, blabby.ai, metawhisp, lumevoice). Wispr raised a $280M Series B in August 2026 — pricing is under pressure to grow, not shrink, but reconfirm before committing a year. Prices are per user; there is no lifetime plan.

What 2,000 words a week really buys

At a natural 130–150 words per minute, 2,000 words is 13–15 minutes of total dictation per week — one long email plus a couple of Slack replies. Reviews consistently describe the result as "word-count anxiety": a single drafted report can blow the whole week's budget, a code comment costs 50–100 words, and one meeting's worth of notes can exceed 1,000. An engineer answering five Slack threads by voice can hit the cap in a single morning.

The cap is enforced per account, not per device — sign in on a laptop and a desktop and both share the same 2,000 words. It resets weekly (reviews report a Sunday reset with a 5,000-word hard ceiling), and when it hits zero, dictation stops until the reset or an upgrade. There is no overage option and no pay-as-you-go bridge.

Full credit where due: Basic is unusually generous on capability — 100+ languages, the personal dictionary that learns names and jargon, Privacy Mode with zero retention, calendar and Slack connections, and MCP access so notes surface in Claude and ChatGPT. If you dictate occasionally, it costs nothing and works. Android unlimited is a limited-time promotional policy, not a plan guarantee.

Words per dollar at real volumes

Weekly dictation volume translated to monthly words, with the effective price per 10,000 words — the number the sticker price hides. Caps respected.

The economics only favor Pro if you dictate near-daily. VocalFuse has no word meter at any volume: transcription runs locally on your Windows PC, so cost per word only falls as you use it more.

Where Wispr Flow's costs actually hide

The annual lump, charged up front

The $12 figure everyone quotes is annual billing — $144 per user charged at once, a 20% discount over $15 monthly. Wispr publishes no annual total itself; the $36/yr saving is real, but you commit a year before testing the accuracy on your own voice and apps.

Per-user pricing for a solo product

Every tier is billed per user, including the personal Pro plan. A 5-person team pays $720–900/yr and a 10-seat team $1,440–1,800/yr — for dictation. There is no flat "personal license" tier and no family plan.

The free tier is a sampler, not a tool

The 2,000-word cap is per-account across all devices, enforced server-side, and third-party reviews report it counts punctuation and filler words. At 13–15 minutes of weekly dictation, daily users hit the wall by Tuesday — which is exactly the point at which the upgrade prompt appears.

Cloud processing on every plan

All tiers transcribe in Wispr's cloud — Privacy Mode offers zero data retention, but the audio still leaves your machine on every dictation, and an outage or a dead connection stops dictation entirely. No tier works on a plane, in a hospital basement, or on a restricted network.

When Wispr Flow is still worth the price

Full credit: Wispr Flow's AI-polished output is the best in the category — filler-word removal and sentence restructuring happen in the cloud, so the text lands formatted per-app without a second pass. Cross-app paste is the most refined in the industry, Command Mode executes voice edits ("make the last paragraph more concise"), and it is the only dictation tool in its class with real native iOS and Android apps. Fresh capital ($280M Series B, August 2026) means fast shipping, not near-term price hikes.

If you dictate across a Mac, an iPhone, and an Android daily and value polish over everything else, Pro is defensible. The pricing turns hostile when your volume is unpredictable (the wall arrives mid-week), your audio is sensitive (cloud-only), or you mostly sit at one Windows PC — in that case you're funding three platforms you don't use.

The flat alternative: no word meter, no annual lump, audio stays on your PC

Flat $5/$10, month-to-month

VocalFuse Basic is $5/mo dictation, Pro AI notes $10/mo — billed monthly, per account, cancel anytime. No annual lump, no per-user math, no seat minimums. One month of Wispr Flow Pro at the monthly rate costs more than a month of VocalFuse Pro.

No words to run out of

Transcription runs on your own PC with a local Whisper-class model, so there is no weekly quota, no per-device math, no reset anxiety. The cost per word only goes down the more you dictate — 0.2¢ per 1,000 words on Pro at ~22,000 words a month.

Audio never uploads

Wispr processes every dictation in its cloud. VocalFuse transcribes on-device — a ~57 MB model that downloads once, works fully offline afterward, and never sends raw audio anywhere. No connection required on a plane, in a courtroom, or on a restricted network.

Honest limits: VocalFuse is Windows desktop software — no iOS/Android apps, no cloud AI rewriting, and its cleanup is lighter-touch than Wispr's. It trades that polish for local processing, no meter, and flat pricing. Full comparison: Wispr Flow alternative · Windows voice typing alternatives · Local transcription software · Otter AI pricing.

Wispr Flow Pricing FAQ

How much does Wispr Flow cost in 2026?

Two published prices: Flow Basic is free and Flow Pro is $15 per user per month billed monthly, or $12 per user per month billed annually ($144/user charged up front — the pricing page labels it a 20% discount). Enterprise is quote-only with no published figure. There is no lifetime or one-time plan. All prices are per user. Verified September 2026 against wisprflow.ai/pricing.

Is Wispr Flow free plan actually usable?

For occasional dictation, yes — and full credit, Basic includes 100+ languages, the personal dictionary, Privacy Mode, calendar/Slack connections, and MCP access so notes surface in Claude and ChatGPT. But the cap is volume: 2,000 dictated words per week on Mac and Windows (1,000 on iPhone, unlimited on Android during a limited-time promo). At 130–150 wpm that is 13–15 minutes of dictation a week. The counter is per-account across all your devices and enforced server-side — daily users hit the wall mid-week.

What does the 2,000 words per week cap actually limit?

Total dictated words per week, counted per account — not per device. Sign in on a laptop and a desktop and both draw from the same 2,000-word pool. Third-party reviews report the counter includes punctuation and filler words, resets weekly (Sundays, per user reports), and stops dictation dead when it hits zero. There is no overage option and no pay-as-you-go bridge: the choices at the wall are wait or upgrade to Pro.

Does Wispr Flow have a student discount?

Yes — verified students get roughly 50% off Pro (about $6–7.50/mo on annual billing) after 3 free months, via Wispr's own student page with an education email. There is no coupon code; the annual-billing toggle and the student program are the only price breaks.

Is Wispr Flow worth $15 a month?

If you dictate daily across Mac, iPhone, and Android and want the category's best AI-polished output, it is defensible — cross-app paste, Command Mode voice edits, and native mobile apps are real. It turns hostile for single-PC users (you fund platforms you don't use), unpredictable volume (the free-tier wall arrives mid-week), or sensitive audio (every tier transcribes in Wispr's cloud — Privacy Mode limits retention but audio still leaves your machine).

Does Wispr Flow offer a lifetime or one-time plan?

No. Pro is subscription-only at $15/mo or $144/yr, and Enterprise is quote-only. One-time-license competitors exist in the dictation category (Superwhisper ~$250 lifetime, MacWhisper ~€59), and local alternatives change the math entirely: VocalFuse is flat $5/mo dictation or $10/mo Pro AI notes, month-to-month, with no word meter because transcription runs on your own Windows PC.

What is a flat-price alternative to Wispr Flow?

VocalFuse runs a ~57 MB Whisper-class model locally on your Windows PC: flat $5/mo Basic dictation or $10/mo Pro AI notes, billed month-to-month per account. No weekly word cap, no per-user pricing, no annual lump, and raw audio never uploads — dictation works fully offline after the one-time model download. Honest limits: Windows-only, no cloud AI rewriting, and cleanup is lighter-touch than Wispr's.

Done paying by the word?

Flat $5/mo Basic dictation or $10/mo Pro AI notes. Local transcription on your Windows PC, no word counter, cancel anytime from your account.
